Terms of Service

1. Acceptance and Effectiveness

These terms of service ("Terms") govern your use of the Murid mobile application ("App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you represent that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms. If you do not accept these Terms, you must not use the App. We reserve the right to update these Terms from time to time. You will be notified of significant changes via in-app notification, and re-acceptance will be requested where necessary.

2. Service Description

Murid is an Islamic companion mobile application developed by Arda Coşkun, offering the following features: • AI-powered Quran chat and text analysis • Location-based prayer time calculations • Digital dhikr (tasbih) counter • Qibla direction finder (compass) • Asma al-Husna (99 Names of Allah) • Prayer (dua) collection and audio content • Hatim (Quran completion) tracking • Zakat calculator • Nearby mosque finder The App offers free basic features and advanced features accessible through a premium subscription.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 13, you may not use the App. Users between 13 and 18 years of age must use the App under the approval and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you represent that you meet these age requirements.

4. Account Creation and Security

Certain features require account creation. When creating an account: • You are responsible for providing accurate and current information. • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account. • If you detect unauthorized use of your account, you must immediately notify support@muridapp.com. • You must not share your account with others. Guest (anonymous) users can access limited features. Guest accounts cannot be recovered after device changes, app uninstallation, or factory reset.

5. AI Content Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: The App provides responses generated by Google's Gemini AI model. You expressly acknowledge the following regarding these responses: • AI responses are for informational purposes only and do not constitute professional religious rulings (fatwa), legal, or medical advice. • AI responses may occasionally contain inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or misleading information. • For definitive rulings on religious matters, consulting qualified scholars and religious authorities is strongly recommended. • As a user, it is entirely your responsibility to evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness of AI-generated content. • Arda Coşkun provides no guarantee regarding the accuracy or completeness of AI responses. • Arda Coşkun cannot be held responsible for decisions made based on AI responses. Data Usage Notice: Your AI chat content is transmitted to the Google Gemini API via Firebase Cloud Functions. The App uses the paid tier of the Gemini API; Google does not use this data for model training. You are still advised not to share sensitive personal information (health information, financial information, identification numbers, etc.) in AI chat.

6. User Obligations

You agree to comply with the following rules when using the App: • Use the App only for lawful and legitimate purposes. • Do not share profanity, insults, hate speech, threats, or inappropriate content in AI chat. The App uses an automatic filtering system to detect inappropriate content. Repeated violations may result in account suspension. • Do not attempt to access other users' accounts without authorization. • Do not manipulate the App's technical infrastructure or reverse engineer it. • Do not copy, modify, or use the App for commercial purposes. • Do not access the App using automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.). • Do not engage in behavior that negatively affects other users' App experience.

7. Subscriptions and Payments

The App offers free basic features. A subscription is required for premium features. Subscription Terms: • Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store using the respective platform's payment infrastructure. • SUBSCRIPTIONS AUTOMATICALLY RENEW UNLESS CANCELLED. Renewal occurs 24 hours before the end of the current period. • The subscription fee is automatically charged from your registered payment method upon renewal. Cancellation: • You may cancel your subscription at any time, effective at the end of the current period. • On iOS, cancel via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. On Android, cancel via Google Play Store → Subscriptions. • Cancellation does not affect your premium access until the end of the current billing period. Refunds: • Refund requests are subject to the refund policies of the platform where the purchase was made (Apple or Google). • Arda Coşkun does not process refunds directly. Price Changes: • Subscription prices may change. You will be notified before price changes, and you may cancel your subscription if you do not accept the new price.

8. Intellectual Property

• The App's design, source code, graphics, logo, and branding are the property of Arda Coşkun and are protected by copyright laws. • Quran texts are in the public domain and are not subject to any copyright claims. • Audio content accessed through the App is the property of the respective reciters and publishers and is provided under applicable licenses. • Content you create through the App (chat messages, notes) belongs to you. You grant us a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to process this content solely for the purpose of providing the service, for the duration your account remains active. This license does not extend to commercial use.

9. Limitation of Liability

The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Arda Coşkun: • Does not guarantee that the App will operate without interruption, error-free, or securely. • Provides no guarantee regarding the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of AI responses. • Is not responsible for direct or indirect damages arising from technical issues, data loss, service interruptions, or AI response errors. • Prayer time calculations are for reference purposes only. For official prayer times, please check the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) or local mufti office sources. • Zakat calculations are for guidance purposes only and do not constitute definitive religious or financial advice. Please consult qualified scholars for your zakat obligations. • Is not responsible for interruptions or data processing practices of third-party services (Firebase, Gemini, RevenueCat, Sentry). Except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct, our liability is limited to the total subscription fees you have paid for the App in the last 12 months.

10. Account Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently close your account without prior notice in the following cases: • Violation of these Terms. • Persistent sharing of inappropriate content (repeated violation detection by the profanity filtering system). • Attempts to damage the App's technical infrastructure. • Compliance with legal requirements. In the event of account suspension, you will be notified before or after the action, where possible. Users who believe their account was unjustly suspended may appeal by contacting support@muridapp.com.

11. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time: • In-app: Settings → Delete Account • Via web: https://muridapp.com/delete-account Account deletion is irreversible. Upon your deletion request: • All your personal data, chat history, and account information will be permanently deleted within 30 days. • If you have an active premium subscription, you must cancel it through your platform before deleting. Account deletion does not automatically cancel subscriptions.

12. Service Changes

Arda Coşkun reserves the right to update, modify, or remove features of the App. Users will be notified of significant changes via in-app notification. In the event of complete service discontinuation, reasonable advance notice will be provided and users will be given the opportunity to export their data.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Turkey. The courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul shall have jurisdiction over all disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms. Users residing in the European Union also retain the right to bring proceedings in the competent courts of their country of residence under EU consumer protection legislation.
